    Day 1 - ARRIVING IN HUARAZ

    After arriving in Huaraz you will be transferred to your hotel.

    Day 2 - HUARAZ

    The program for today is a full day tour towards the impressive archeological site of Chavin de Huantar. It is a scenic route of about 4 hours and on the way you will make a few (photo) stops. One of these stops is at the beautiful Querococha Lake. After that the ride continues over the highest point and through the tunnel of Kawish (4500m). The site itself was once built by the Chavin, one of the oldest cultures of Peru (900 till 200 BC). Some of the highlights from this site include: “cabezas clavas” (key heads), “Lanzon de Chavin” (the lance of Chavin), the water draining system of the plaza and the impressive main temple.

    Day 3 - HUARAZ

    Today we have a completely different full day tour. This time the focus of the tour is natural beauty and tragedy. The tour starts by visiting Carhuaz, known for its great ice-cream. Then you continue to Laguna Llanganuco. This brightly colored lake is surrounded by snow capped mountains and trees from a fairytale story. You will have time to make a short walk around the lake before the tour continues to Caraz. This town is known for its tasty manjar (a caramel cream). The last stop of the day is in Yungay at Campo Santo. On the 31th of May 1970 a heavy earthquake and the following massive avalanche buried this whole town and most of its citizen under meters of ice, mud and rocks. The only client witnesses are the tops of 4 palm trees from the former main plaza. There might not be much left to see, but if you walk around there you will hear the stories about survivors and the death and their families. It is almost as if the stories come back to life. Tonight you will travel by a very comfortable bus to Trujillo.

    Day 4 - TRUJILLO

    Around 06:00 you will arrive to Trujillo. In the morning you have time to relax a bit and to get used to the warmer climate. For the afternoon we’ve included a guided walk through the colonial city centre of Trujillo.

    Day 5 - TRUJILLO – HUACA DE LA LUNA – HUANCHACO – CHAN CHAN

    In the morning we start another very complete archeological tour towards the gigantic archeological (Moche) grave hills of Huaca del Sol y la Luna, with its new museum. Parts of tombs are still decorated with well conserved paintings on the walls. And from these tombs even now they still frequently report new discoveries. In the afternoon you will visit the famous Chan Chan ruins (Chimu Culture), Huaca Arco Iris and Palacio Nik- AN with different nature, bird and fish motives and at the end of the day you can see the Traditional “Caballitos de Totora” (reed fishing boats) riding the waves around sunsets from the beach of Huanchaco.

    Day 6 - HUACA RAJADA – MUSEO TUMBAS REALES – TUCUME

    The tour from this day is filled with archeological highlights. In the morning when the sun is not too warm yet, you will visit Huaca Rajada, the original tomb from the lord of Sipan. At the end of the eighties grave robbers found this tomb in Sipan. It was still almost intact and luckily the authorities soon heard about this discovery so they could stop the looting and start excavating this unique tomb in a professional way. When the temperature goes down again the light get soft, you will end this interesting day with a visit of the archeological site Tucume. These ruins and ceremonial plateaus were ones build with adobe by the Lambayeque culture and the Chimu.

    Day 7 - HUACA RAJADA – MUSEO TUMBAS REALES – TUCUME

    In the morning you will take a walk through the dry tropical forest of Bosque de Pomac (Batan Grande). The walk starts add an ancient old tree, past “Huaca las Ventanas” (tombs of the windows) up till a good viewpoint. On the way you will be able to see different bird species, typical to this area. After Pomac the tour continues to the Museum of Sican. This museum shows a great collection with (golden) objects found in Bosque Pomac. Some of these golden objects belong to the most beautiful ever found in the province of Lambayeque, or maybe even in the whole of Peru. In the evening, you will take a very comfortable bus to Chachapoyas.

    Day 8 - CHICLAYO – BOSQUE DE POMAC – MUSEO SICAN – CHACHAPOYAS

    In the morning you will take a walk through the dry tropical forest of Bosque de Pomac (Batan Grande). The walk starts add an ancient old tree, past “Huaca las Ventanas” (tombs of the windows) up till a good viewpoint. On the way you will be able to see different bird species, typical to this area. After Pomac the tour continues to the Museum of Sican. This museum shows a great collection with (golden) objects found in Bosque Pomac. Some of these golden objects belong to the most beautiful ever found in the province of Lambayeque, or maybe even in the whole of Peru. In the evening, you will take a very comfortable bus to Chachapoyas.

    Day 9 - CHACHAPOYAS – GOCTA

    In the morning, you will arrive to Chachapoyas, the people of the clouds. They built beautiful cities on the surrounding mountain tops and buried their death in sarcophagus, placed on the mountain hills. You will have a transfer to your hotel and some time to relax. After your breakfast, it is a short to the Cocachimbo community, from where a local guide will take you on a beautiful hike of around 2.5h to the high waterfall of Gocta. Late in the afternoon you will be transferred back to Chachapoyas for a visit to the orchid garden.

    Day 10 - CHACHAPOYAS – SARCOFAGOS DE KARIJIA – PUEBLO DE LOS MUERTOS

    We take about a 2 hour ride towards a small village named Cruz Pata. From this village it is only a 20 min. walk to the well preserved Sarcogafos de Kararajia. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit the mysterious “Pueblo de los Muertos” or “Caverna de Quiocta”.

    Day 11 - CHACHAPOYAS – KUELAP

    Today you will visit the newly discovered archeological site of Kuelap (about 3 hours to get there). The city is build on top of a mountain (3000m) and used to be the capital of the Chachapoyas culture.

    Day 12 - CHACHAPOYAS – REVASH – LEYMEBAMBA

    The tour of today will bring you from Chachapoyas, past Revash to Leymebamba. Your first stop is at the village of Santo Tomas. From here starts a short hike to the grave-towers of Revash. These tombs are cut out of the rock wall and painted with typical motives from Chachapoyas. After arriving in Leymebamba, you will visit the local museum. This museum shows a collection, with more than 5000 objects and 200 mummy’s that were partly found in “Laguna de los Condores”.

    Day 13 - LEYMEBAMBA – CAJAMARCA

    After an early breakfast you will be transferred to the bus station, from where you take a bus towards Cajamarca. Arrive to Cajamarca and transfer to your hotel.

    Day 14 - CAJAMARCA – CITY TOUR – VENTANILLAS DE OTUZCO

    After breakfast, we offer a city tour through the beautiful centre of Cajamarca. A town with streets of concrete and houses of adobe and also the town where the official defeat of the Inca’s by the Spanish begin with the capture of the Inca ruler Atahualpa. You will pass: Plaza de Armas, Iglesia San Francisco, Cuarto de rescate, Complejo Belén, etc. In the afternoon you will visit the interesting pre-Inca site “Ventanillas de Otuzco” and “Los Alpes”, where they explain you more about the main export products of Cajamarca.

    Day 15 - CAJAMARCA – CUMBEMAYO – BAÑOS DEL INCA

    In the morning, you have a tour to the beautiful rock formations of Cumbemayo. It is said that the pre-inca civilization (Caxamarca) already 1000 AC. constructed a channel from this location to the town of Cajamarca. Some historian says that it had an hydraulic and religious function. During an easy walk of about two hours you will be able to see part of this ancient channel. After lunch, you can take a bath and relax in the historical “Baños Del Inca”.

    Day 16 - CAJAMARCA – LIMA

    Transfer to the airport or bus station and connection to Lima.
